Operational Functionality Video - Anti-Rollaway Kalmar Ottawa T2

Modified on Mon, 9 Mar at 7:31 AM

The MAX-SAFE Anti-Rollaway Brake System™ is designed to complement the existing park brake system of any vehicle. The brake system gathers information from electrical signals sent by system components and the vehicle electrical system. The MAX-SAFE ECU then determines the risk state of the vehicle having a roll-away scenario due to the operator leaving the vehicle without the park brake applied. The operator is provided with a pre-warning visually and audibly if the system determines that the vehicle is at the point of rolling away.

The MAX-SAFE Anti-Rollaway Brake System™ monitors a range of parameters so as to avoid a potential rollaway scenario. These are:

  • Vehicle Speed
  • Vehicle Park Brake Lever Position
  • Driver Seat Pressure (ON SEAT / OFF SEAT)
  • Seat Buckle Status (OPEN / CLOSED)

The system utilises an LCD screen to inform the operator of the system condition. If the system activates, a loud audible warning is sounded, and the spring brake is applied. The operator must then manually apply the vehicle park brake lever in order to reset the system and silence the audible warning.
